Nutrient Management of Plum Fruit Orchards
Due to the alkaline and calcareous nature of soils in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, widespread deficiency of organic matter and essential nutrients is reported. In addition, imbalanced use and unscientific methods of fertilizer application adopted by the farmers further aggravate the problem of low productivity in orchards. Keeping this in view, series of experiments were conducted on plum orchards by the scientists of Plant Nutrition Group. They developed an economical package of integrated nutrient management which improve fruit production, reduces the cost of fertilizer in orchard farming and improves N use efficiency.
